Maple Grove Arts Council Jazz Ensemble
The Maple Grove Arts Council is launching its JAZZ ENSEMBLE in affiliation with the Maple Grove Parks and Recreation Department under the direction of acclaimed conductor/musician Paul Mazzacano. Paul has been, first and foremost, an educator of music all of his professional life. He will bring that to this new jazz ensemble as well. We are fortunate to have someone of his caliber volunteering to director this new group and we hope that musicians out there will take advantage of the opportunities this offers. There will be opportunities to learn improvisation, there will be clinics on their individual instruments, and the ensemble members will be able to work with the top professional Twin Cities and national musicians.

Auditions for membership in the Maple Grove Arts Council Jazz Ensemble are open. There is no age limit or residency restriction. Acceptance into the jazz ensemble is based upon individual talent and personal commitment. All musicians are expected to furnish their own instruments; piano and music stands are provided at the rehearsal site.
Auditions and rehearsals will be at Osseo Jr. High School Band Room, 10223 93rd Avenue North, Osseo, MN 55369.

Rehearsal dates:
Mondays from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. beginning January 7, 2008, except for school holidays.
The JAZZ ENSEMBLE will perform for important Maple Grove Arts Council events, City Of Maple Grove special events, the ensemble's own monthly cable TV show, special concerts, a concert tour, and eventually, record its own CDs.
Membership Fee: $45.00
The ensemble instrumentation will be:
• 5 Saxes - 2 Altos, 2 Tenors and 1 Bari sax. Preference will
be given to players who double on Flute and Clarinet.
• 5 Trumpets - Preference will be given to those who double on Flugelhorn.
• 5 Trombones - 4 Tenor Trombones, 1 Bass Trombone
• 5 Rhythm section players:
Keyboard - electric and acoustic
Bass - acoustic and electric
Drum set
Guitar
Percussion - Vibes, Congas, Latin instruments
